The purpose 01 this paper is to record two peculiar cases 01 human myiases occurring in Northern Brasil which apparently have not been reported. ln both cases maggots 01 Alouattamyia baeri (Shannon & Greene) (Diptera, Cuterebridae) were localized in the pharyngeal cavity. The lirst case involved a lemale Suruí indian, 30 years old, living in the Parque Aripuanã, Rondônia, presenting symptoms 01 cough, nausea, dyspnea and painlul throat. Alter treatment with Tiabendazol six large maggots were expeIled through the mouth. The second case occurred in the state 01 Amazonas . involving a 45 years old worker 01 the Manaus-Manacapuru road, km 27. The patient showed, lor two weeks, intellse cough and throat irritation and alter gargle with iodine solution expeIled a large maggot. The native hosts 01 this Ily inc1ude mainly howler monkeys (Alouatta sp.). The large maggots (22-27 mm) develop in the cervical, upper stern ai and axi/lary regions. An up-to-date /ist 01 hosts 01 A. baeri lound in lhe literature is presented. The material is deposited in the coIlection 01 the Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de São Paulo.
